I met Erika almost 2 years ago, she was meeting with me at a local Starbucks to talk about the possibility of hiring me for her wedding. Since then, I have photographed their engagement session, wedding, day after session, and growing baby belly. And now I had this amazing opportunity to photograph their biggest life event ever, the birth of their daughter Emry Rae! This was my very first birth story and definitely not my last. I started off as a photojournalist for my college newspaper, so catching the candid moments and telling the story of labor and delivery were right up my alley. Birth photography is so much more than just taking pictures of a baby being born, its a telling of a story of the entire birth day. From the hospital, to the weather, the time the wee little one is born, to the first time grandma and grandpa meet their grand baby.
